History of the World Expo of Beer

A Frankenmuth Tradition

The World Expo of Beer is more than a beer festival. It is one of Frankenmuth's longest annual fundraisers and a long-standing community tradition. Hosted by the Frankenmuth Jaycees, WEB takes place every year on the third weekend in May in downtown Frankenmuth, Michigan. What began as a bold idea to bring craft beer and community together has grown into one of Michigan's largest beer sampling events. Each year, guests enjoy nearly 300 different beers from around the world, all severed in the heart of a town known for hospitality and celebration. From the first tent stake to the final pug packed away, WEB is powered entirely by volunteers.

WEB at a Glance

Hosted by the Frankenmuth Jaycees. Held annually the third weekend in May. Located in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Nearly 300 different beers available. Thousands of attendees each year. 100% volunteer-driven. From setup to tear down, this event is built by community members who believe in creating something bigger than themselves.

Helping Our Community, 4 Ounces at a Time

The World expo of Beer exists for one reason: to give back. Over the past 15 years alone, WEB has donated more than $1,000,000 to charitable causes. Ever admission ticket, ever sample ticket, and ever souvenir purchase directly supports organizations that strengthen our local community and communities across Michigan. Your tasting tour has a purpose.

Organizations Supported Through WEB

Thanks to attendees, volunteers, sponsors, and participating breweries, WEB has supported a wide range of causes, including: American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, CAN Council, Caro District Library, Cass River Greenway, Cathedral Mental Health, City Beautification Projects, Community Bike Plan, Eastern Food Bank of Michigan, Fish Point Wildlife Refuge, FOX Club, Frankenmuth 4th of July Fireworks, Frankenmuth Disc Golf Pads, Frankenmuth Fire Department, Frankenmuth High School Band, Frankenmuth Police Department, Frankenmuth Splash Pad, Holy Cross Services, Individual and Family Financial Support, Love for a Child, Michigan Brewers Guild, Michigan Heroes Museum, Michigan Hop Alliance, Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum, PAWS Animal Rescue, Pet Angel, Pints for Prostates, Reese Community Park, Running 2 Honor, Saginaw Children’s Zoo, Scout Programs, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Vassar Schools. Some donations help fund large community projects. Others quietly support families in need. All of them matter.

Built by the Frankenmuth Jaycees

The World Expo of Beer® is proudly produced by the Frankenmuth Jaycees, a volunteer organization dedicated to leadership development and community impact. WEB is our largest annual fundraiser and one of our greatest privileges to host. The event not only supports local charities but also allows our members to grow as leaders while serving the community. When you attend WEB, you are supporting local nonprofits, community improvements, youth programs, emergency services, regional and statewide causes, and the next generation of community leaders, all through one weekend in May.

From Tent Stakes to Teardown

From setup to tear down!

WEB is a full-scale operation that begins months before May. Planning meetings, brewery outreach, logistics coordination, sponsorship development, marketing, permitting, site layout, volunteer recruitment, and community partnerships all lead to one weekend where everything comes together. Then on Sunday, we pack it up. Until next May.
